In the Mari forest, on the land of the hero Chotkar, a family of hermits lives in harmony with nature: a wise old man and his young grandson. One day, out-of-town businessmen appear on the threshold of their house and want to buy this house at any cost for the construction of a sawmill. However, when a business proposal escalates into a death threat, an unknown force stands up for the Mari. This is a modern interpretation of the legend of the Mari hero with Ivan Kokorin and Mikhail Bogdasarov performing the leading parts.
