The VII Arctic International Film Festival "Golden Raven" launches the call for applications and announces the dates of the festival in 2023
The VII Arctic International Film Festival "Golden Raven" will be held in Anadyr, Chukotka from April 24 to May 7, 2023. The opening and closing ceremonies will traditionally take place at the "Polarny" cinema hall. You can apply for participation in the competition programs of the festival until February 28.

The "Golden Raven" Film Festival is a unique cultural event for the Far North of Russia, which has been taking place for six years and combines in its program the best Russian and foreign, fiction and non-fiction, feature-length and short films shot in the Arctic or somehow propagandizing its history, nature and cultural values. In 2022, the triumphant of the festival was the documentary "Detached" by Vladimir Krivov, which tells about the life of the Chukchi. The best non-fiction film in the short films category was the story about life on the shore of the Chukchi Sea "Haulout" by Maxim and Evgenia Arbugaev, which was included in the shortlist of contenders for the "Oscar" award. In addition, for the past three years, the "Golden Raven" Film Festival – the only one in the country – has been presenting a special competition program of regional films "Kinovzlet!".

A distinctive feature of the festival is that the Grand Prix winner is chosen by the audience. At the same time, they can see not only participants of the competition program, but also an extensive non-competition program. Admission to the festival screenings is free, and every year non-competition program gets increasing interest from residents and guests of Chukotka. In addition, the screenings take place not only in Anadyr, but also in other settlements of the region.

The festival also provides extensive business and educational programs – with lectures and master classes by leading Russian and foreign cinematographers, professional discussions and presentations of new projects. More than that, in 2023 it is planned to increase the number of meet-the-artist events, exhibitions and performances, which will also be held in Chukotka as part of the "Golden Raven" Film Festival.

Applications for participation in the festival are accepted through the online form on the festival official website https://goldenravenfilmfest.ru/zayavka , foreign applicants can apply through Filmfreeway platforms or Festhome. Participation in the selection is free of charge.

To participate in the international competition of full-length feature and non-feature films, films created no earlier than January 1, 2021 (with a running time of more than 60 minutes) devoted to Arctic or northern themes and reflecting the life of the people of the northern regions of the world, including indigenous peoples, are accepted.

Works of any genre and thematic orientation created no earlier than January 1, 2021, with a running time of no more than 45 minutes, can apply for the international competition of short fiction and non-fiction films.

For the regional competition "Kinovzlet!", short feature and non-feature films up to 20 minutes created no earlier than January 1, 2021 on the territory of Chukotka, which had not previously participated in this Festival program, are considered.
