"Dedicated to the fallen and living soldiers of the 3rd tank army of Marshal Rybalko" Junior lieutenant Maleshkin, who had just graduated from military school, was appointed commander of a "self-propelled gun" with a crew of experienced and seasoned fighters. This film tells about their life, combat and everyday life.

In 1963, he graduated from the directing department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. Studied in the workshop of the outstanding film director and teacher Mikhail Romm.
