In the culture of the Old Believers, the main goal is the preservation of religious dogmas. However, their closed nature and commitment to traditions have also helped to maintain their way of life. As the Old Believers become more open to the world, their authentic material culture gradually fades away.
To capture this vanishing heritage, we traveled to Tayaty, one of the few remaining sub-taiga villages of the Old Believers. The main goal of our expedition was to find preserved traditional household items and, through their owners, gain a deeper understanding of the design thinking of the Russian people.
