He graduated from the philological department of Moscow State University and the prose seminar of A. Bitov in the Literary Institute.
Since 1996, engaged in documentary films.
Maxim is the author and director of more than 60 films,
participant and prize winner of festivals in Ivanovo, Yekaterinburg, Anapa, Moscow, Minsk, Gatchina, Warsaw, Shanghai, Grenoble.
