The film illustrates the life of a lonely elderly hermit who settled in the forests of Karelia more than 20 years ago. Despite being almost a century old, he leads an active lifestyle, reflects on human nature and writes about it.
Like an old sage from the myths of Vainamainen, the local epic, he lives in the same places, in harmony with nature. But behind the semi-mystical image is a man with a great past.
