The anniversary 10th Golden Raven Arctic International Film Festival, which will take place from March 30 to April 12, 2026, in Anadyr, the capital of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, announces its program and jury composition. As in previous years, the festival will include film screenings, business events, theatrical performances, and creative meetings for residents and guests of Anadyr.
The anniversary festival received over three thousand applications from Russia, China, Brazil, Turkey, the USA, Iran, India, Spain, Argentina, and other countries.
"The tenth festival is a significant milestone that opens a new chapter in the history of the Golden Raven. Of course, we feel a great responsibility and joy that our festival continues to unite filmmakers from completely different countries: this year we received applications from more than 100 countries. We have prepared many surprises for the audience. For example, for the first time in the history of the Golden Raven, there will be a full-length animated film competition, featuring the new feature film by Oscar nominee Konstantin Bronzit, ‘Discarded,’ the Brazilian film ‘Nimuendajú,’ the Russian cartoon ‘Heroes of the Arctic,’ Ivan Baturin’s animated story ‘Shadows Behind the Scenes,’ and the hit from Malaysia, ‘The Tale of Sang Kancil.’ I am sure that the Tenth Golden Raven will give viewers and participants many positive emotions and vivid impressions!"says Filipp Abryutin, Artistic Director and Director of the Golden Raven Festival.
The competition program for full-length fiction and documentary films includes seven pictures. These are: the first fiction film by documentarian Vladimir Golovnev, "Scurvy," filmed in Yamal; the Yakutian film "Give Me Flowers" by debutant Vasily Sleptsov; Andrey Timoshchenko's study "The Last Mammoth" about the life and culture of the disappearing indigenous Dolgan people of the Taimyr Peninsula; the film-portrait "Vitaly Melnikov. A Director's Fate," shot by famous documentarian Nataliya Gugueva about the director of the legendary film "Chief of Chukotka"; the Turkish documentary work by Gülten Taranç "My Grandpa's Home"; the documentary from Venezuela "Kueka, Ancestral Memory" by Maria de los Angeles Peña Fonseca; and the Chinese film "The Answer to Forever" directed by Zheng Yunchang.
The jury for the full-length competition includes director and screenwriter Alexander Kott (Chairman), actress Zoya Berber, cinematographer Ivan Burlakov, documentarian Alexey Vakhrushev, Korean director and showrunner Yu Jae-hong, and Chinese director Qiao Liang.
The short film section will feature 11 fiction and 9 documentary films from Russia, China, Mexico, India, and other countries. They will be judged by Vladimir Karachevsky, General Director of the Minsk "Kinovideoprokat" network (Jury Chairman), Chinese producer Liang Jiashan, documentary filmmaker Mikhail Moroz, and director, actor, and screenwriter Alexander Sukachev.
"If you look at the competition and non-competition programs, as well as our mandatory business component, it turns out that films and filmmakers from various regions of Russia and 11 foreign countries will take part in the anniversary festival! Such geographical scale and the fact that for many years now Chukotka has become a magnet for talented creative people from different parts of the world is, of course, our pride and the result of the colossal work of the team and festival partners! It is important that the ‘Golden Raven’ possesses a powerful charge of energy for the local creative community: as part of our efforts to promote animation in Chukotka, the ‘Golden Raven’ animation laboratory will be held for the third time with the support of the legendary Soyuzmultfilm studio, where children and teenagers aged 10 to 17 can participate. The cartoons created as a result of the laboratory's work will be shown on the big screen of the Polyarny cinema at the end of the festival," notes Oksana Lakhno, Leading Producer of the Golden Raven AIFF.
An innovation for the anniversary festival will be the Press Prize, which journalists and film critics attending the screening will award to their favorite film. However, the Golden Raven remains true to its main tradition: the winner of the Grand Prix "Golden Raven" for the best film in the full-length fiction and documentary competition will, as before, be chosen by the audience.
The festival continues its support for aspiring filmmakers from the regions. The traditional "FilmRising!" (Cinema Takeoff!) program includes five documentary and fiction films created in the Sakhalin Region, the Kola Peninsula, Chukotka, Khanty-Mansiysk, the Khabarovsk Territory, and the Sverdlovsk Region. The jury for this competition consists of Irina Belova, General Director of Krasnoyarsk Regional State Budgetary Institution of Culture "Yenisey Cinema"; Elena Kutsenko, film critic and representative of the Crimean Film Commission; and Egor Tynarali, choreographer of the State Academic Chukchi-Eskimo Ensemble "Ergyron," actor, and director.
"It is a great honor for me to represent today that part of the festival where the forward movement is felt especially strongly – the birth of new cinema, new names, and new intonations. ‘Golden Raven’ has always been not only a meeting place with recognized authors but also a territory of support for those who are just starting their journey. This is why the regional competition "FilmRising!" occupies a special place in the festival program – a space for the first serious screen statements, first victories, and the first real meeting with the audience," noted Sviridova.
In total, over one hundred films will be shown during the Golden Raven, including the non-competition program, which traditionally not only continues the festival's main themes (indigenous culture, ecology, human-nature relationships, Arctic exploration) but also reflects important dates in history.
"One of the key dates is the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, the Siege of Leningrad, and the counter-offensive near Moscow. A selection of unique documentaries from the Lendoc film studio is dedicated to these events. The first Space Week in Russia, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of Gagarin's flight and the second week of our festival, will be preceded by a special thematic selection from Soyuzmultfilm. The Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia will run like a red thread through the competition and non-competition programs. Several films are dedicated to this theme. Our native Chukotka celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Atasikun ensemble, and we cannot fail to show the short film ‘Atasikun. All Together.’ Exactly half a century ago, the decision was made to establish the Wrangel Island Reserve, and 105 years ago, the Soviet Union adopted the decree ‘On the protection of natural monuments,’ which laid the foundation for conservation in the country. A special screening of the film ‘Nature Reserve People’ is dedicated to these important dates. The screening of the film ‘Lieutenant Sedov's Path’ about the Arctic explorer is timed to the 125th anniversary of Georgy Ushakov, " said program director Alexander Solomonov.
As part of the festival, Moscow's "Pokrovka.Theater" will come to Chukotka on tour to mark its 35th season. They will present the play "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" based on Alexander Pushkin’s text, which was written 195 years ago.
The Golden Raven Arctic International Film Festival is organized by the Center for the Development and Support of Cultural Projects "Golden Raven" and the "Youth Initiatives" Production Center, with support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Governor and Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, and other regional and national cultural foundations.
